Bangladesh at 50: Health & Sanitation and the role of NGOs

CSO Alliance has been trying to promote and highlight the contributions of the civil society organizations (CSOs) in the development sector with particular focus on reaching the disadvantaged and excluded groups of populations. Keeping this in view, the Alliance has already initiated a process of consultation with stakeholders and organized a number of divisional meetings with CSOs in different parts of Bangladesh. The Alliance has initiated a ‘50 years Celebration Plan’ through which four focused meetings will be organized on the issues like Health & Sanitation, Budget, Women’s empowerment and Education. The meeting on July 17 is the first in this series.
Objectives of the Event:
o Highlight the gains and challenges for the health and sanitation sector in the past 50 years
o Create unified voice on pressing issues and concerns in health and sanitation, particularly the enraging pandemic;
o Reach a consensus on issues of common interest for effective coordination between the Government and CSOs.

From the Scholars

It allows you to gather monthly subscriptions from fans to help fund your creative projects. They also encourage their users to offer rewards to fans as a way to repay them for their support.

Through discussion we

can argue and find solutions. The alliance should initiate dialogues to find and promote positive changes. The goal of this alliance should be to create a creative tension. It is really encouraging and has certainly opened a new window to work together with Government.

NGOs and Government are

complimentary to each other. But there is scope of antagonistic cooperation and collaboration with government. To bring so many non-state actors of de- velopment sectors under one umbrella is a mammoth task. I am glad that CSO alliance has initiated the task and hopefully will be able to pull off the challenges.

The civil society

organisations work towards achieving the vision of government and have always been complimentary force in implementing government initiatives. Government encourages such coalitions and platforms because it helps in driving effective changes. To overcome from the disastrous impact of Covid, such a platform is a must and it can play vital role in overcoming the Covid induced challenges.
