Recommendations Sent for Necessary Amendments to NGOAB Circular

On February 15, 2023, a recommendation letter was sent to the Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) regarding necessary amendments and additions to Circular No. 25, issued on November 21, 2021.

Following the decision of the CSO Alliance Convening Committee in October 2022, an eight-member committee was formed, led by K.A.M. Morshed, Senior Director of BRAC. Other committee members included,Tapon Kumar Das from CAMPE, Monirul Islam from CAMPE, Marium ul Mutahara from Manusher Jonno Foundation, Jahangir Alam from CDD, Ripon Banai from the Indigenous Forum and Organization, and Dipak Kumar Saha from SKS Foundation.

In a meeting held in November 2022, the committee members proposed their recommendations for submission to the NGOAB. Consequently, the CSO Alliance submitted a total of nine recommendations aimed at expediting the foreign grant disbursement process for NGO-led projects. The recommendations included relaxing the mandatory “certificate of compliance” collection process from the district commissioner or upazila executive officer, extending the deadline for submitting audit reports to the NGO Bureau for new projects or subsequent phases, and releasing 100% of the funds for one-year projects in the first tranche.
